Introduction to Ecological Design (2 days)
This participatory weekend explores the roots of ecological design and a variety of frameworks for application in nearly any context. A special emphasis will be placed on considerations for landscape and building design. Guiding design principles will be discussed with practical examples and resources for continued practice. We will actively explore whole systems design methodology and a variety of tools to support clarity and creativity in the design process. The host site serves as a case study and living laboratory to ground the classroom experience, providing the opportunity to see and apply many strategies. A range of technologies, practical considerations, and examples of ecological design applications will be covered.
